VéloCity’s Alexandria Youth Program Kick-Off!

The VéloCity Youth Program kicks off with a bang today as Alexandria’s Mayor Euille visits the VéloCity Co-op at 4pm.  All are welcome to join us as we greet the Mayor and launch our Earn-A-Bike program with the City’s Department of Recreation
Parks and Cultural Activities,
Recreation Services Division.   The Earn-A-Bike program offers bicycle maintenance and safety classes for Alexandria youth, and participants will earn their own bicycle after successfully completing the education program and refurbishing and repairing a selected bicycle donated to the co-op.  In addition to the Earn-A-Bike program, VéloCity has donated over 30 refurbished bicycles to the City’s Recreation Services Division, where they will be used by youth at recreation centers around the City, and maintained by VéloCity volunteers.  The VéloCity summer youth education agenda also includes the Alexandria TeensWork! program, where five Alexandria youth will work for six weeks at the co-op and learn bicycle maintenance and co-op operations.
