Register for Bike to Work Day 2017

We’re super excited to be hosting stops for Bike to Work Day again this year. Registration is open, and you should totally sign up!

Three reasons why you should participate (from WABA):

1. FREE t-shirts, bagels, coffee, and smiles.
2. It’s super fun to be a part of something big: 19,500+ people biking to work.

Three reasons you should register online:

1. It shows your support for bicycling.
2. You want to make bicycling better (and showing your support bolsters WABA’s advocacy efforts to make biking better).
3. It helps elected officials, city governments, and local transportation departments recognize biking is important and normal.

Sign up here.

#Spring2ACTion Today!

Today is Spring2ACTion, Alexandria’s day of giving!

We’re proud to be participating again and partnering with ACTforAlexandria and other non-profits in our community.

Your donation to VéloCity helps us grow an inclusive cycling community right here in Alexandria.

We’re building off the great momentum of the Bike!Bike! Southeast conference and expanding our summer programs so that we can provide more free fixes, more community rides, and get more people on bikes.

Thank You Bike!Bike! 2017!

VéloCity wants to give a big thank you to everyone who was a part of Bike!Bike! Southeast 2017!

We had over 40 attendees, provided housing for 9, fed everyone all weekend, held 10+ workshops, and joined the Rolling Resistance WTF Alley Cat in DC. Community cycling advocates from around the country came to our space for learning, networking, and a fun on bikes.

Over the course of the past year, we raised well more than we spent on the event. All funds raised over our expenditures will support VéloCity Summer programming.

We had an incredible planning committee was involved in planning this event for months:

• Andy Bakker
• Bayley Vanderpoel
• Jerry Cowden
• Joe Davison
• Kyle Goodwill
• Marty Devine
• Paul Toler
• Rick LoGalbo
• Robin Frei
• Snehee Khandeshi
• Tom Morehouse

Sterling Stone of Gearin’ Up Bicycles gets a special thank you. He was a big part of the planning committee and allowed us to host an afternoon at his shop.

Check out pictures of the event here.

We also want to thank our incredible local donors for their support:

We can’t wait until Bike!Bike! Southeast 2018 at Colatown Bike Collective in Columbia, SC!
