A bike isn’t a luxury — it’s how a lot of people get to work, take their kids to school, and move through their lives. When cost is a barrier, Vélocity steps in.

We refurbish donated bikes and give them away — completely free — to our community members who need them. We can often include a helmet and lock too. Recipients have included immigrants, people experiencing housing instability, and folks who need reliable transportation for employment.

The Vélocity Bicycle Scholarship program prioritizes the residents of Arlington and Alexandria, including individuals residing in safe houses, shelters, transitional housing, rehab, or half-way homes. Requests for Scholarship Bicycles from outside of Arlington and Alexandria may be redirected to supporting programs from other communities.
